Thurs 5 May, 2016

This morning we had a city orientation tour. Hungary has a population of 10 million and 2 million of them live in the city of Budapest. The city of Budapest was formed in 1873 with the amalgamation of the cities of Buda, Obuda and Pest. We went to Heros Square that had the tomb of the unknown soldier. It was quite a monument. It recognized all the occupations of the people and King Stephen who converted so many of the people to Christianity by encouraging the building of a church for every 10 towns.
While we were there, some kids were practicing their shooting skills. Wow were they good!!
We then went to Castle Hill which includes Old Town and the Royal Palace.

This was the Royal Palace.

It was then time for Morning Tea / lunch so we decided to have desserts. They were absolutely delicious but the price was a total rip off. Because it was the first transaction using Hungarian Forint we weren't quite sure of exchange.
The 11,040 worked out to be $55 Aust. Two sundaes, two coffees and two savory scones!! Won't get caught again!
Loved walking through the city, such a pretty, clean place! We went to the local markets, a huge place with everything you could possibly want! There was an art class there sketching the roof of the markets and doing an incredible job!
Great day!
